# April 2026 — Camp Attendance Permissions & Guardian Controls

> Request guardian permission for camp attendance from within the platform, with real-time status tracking.

## What's new

### Camp attendance permissions

You can now formally request guardian permission for a student to attend a camp — directly from within the camp management screen.

**For staff:**

  <Step title="Open the Permissions tab">
    Open any camp and go to the new **Permissions** tab. You'll see every enrolled student alongside their linked guardian(s) and current permission status.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send permission requests">
    Select the students you want to contact, then tap **Send Permission Request Email** — or send to all at once. Each guardian receives a personalised email with the camp name, dates, and their child's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Track responses in real time">
    Status updates automatically as guardians respond: **Not Sent → Pending → Approved / Declined**. You can resend requests to guardians who haven't responded yet.

**For guardians:**

Guardians receive a clear email with the camp name, dates, and their child's name. They can approve or decline with a single tap — no login required. Permission links expire after 72 hours and can only be used once.

### Guardian notification controls

A new **contact consent** setting on guardian profiles lets you mark secondary contacts (grandparents, emergency contacts, etc.) so they don't receive routine communications — while keeping them visible on the student record. Primary guardians are always contacted regardless of this setting.

### Guardians tab improvements

* **"Notify Guardians"** is now labelled **"Request to update health plans"** — making its purpose clearer at a glance
* Guardians who haven't yet been invited to the app are clearly marked and cannot be messaged until they've been onboarded
